B.A.P.A.’s Chicago police officer, Nikolay Gantchev, visited and read a road safety book to some little Bulgarian kindergartners in Park Ridge, Illinois.
The Bulgarian American Police Association was honored to accept the invitation from the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Chicago and the City of Chicago, to present and raise the Bulgarian flag at the “Daley Center Plaza” in downtown Chicago. The official ceremony commemorated March 3rd, which is Bulgaria’s official Independence Day.
On February 18th in 1873, the Bulgarian national hero Vasil Levski was executed by hanging in Sofia, Bulgaria. B.A.P.A. remembers it’s heroes! B.A.P.A. officers, Nikolay Ganchev and David Bekov, from the Chicago Police Department laid flowers and paid tribute to Vasil Levski at his monument in the city of Chicago.
Representatives from the B.A.P.A.’s board of directors Detective Mario Valkov (B.A.P.A. President), Officer Brian Bonev (B.A.P.A. Vice President) and Officer David Bekov (B.A.P.A. Director/Sergeant at Arms) visited the Bulgarian Volleyball Academy to make a donation on behalf of the Bulgarian men and women in uniform. The funds were used to supply much needed volleyballs and training equipment for the team.

B.A.P.A. was invited to the “Little Bulgarian School” in Elk Grove, Illinois to participate in a mentoring forum named “The strength of Bulgarians”. The forum was held in front of Bulgarian-American students who attend the school. B.A.P.A.’s participants were Officer Brian Bonev (B.A.P.A.
